Default Sons first camping trip

Finally able to take my boy camping for first time. He enjoyed it minus some lightning that came through. It was cracking on top of us. Heís ready for the next trip. Trying to raise him outdoors the way I was raised.

Many lessons learned. He went with me hunting this last season and did good. Just glad he is getting to that age where he can go adventure and enjoy it.

That is awesome! My son is 10 months old currently and I'm already planning camping trips in my head for the two of us!

So advice you didn't ask for, start now. We got our son out the first time when he was 4 months old in our pop up camper. Of course no memories for him, but as parents, you will get dialed in much quicker than waiting for the right time to start. At that point, he was sleeping 3 times a day, plus night time.

Now he's 19 months, my wife backs the camper in, I guide her, little man sits in the back seat with the puppies, wife gets the camper leveled (it's all automatic, so she gets the easy job) while I get all the hook ups, warm water going, truck unhooked, etc...

Then when backpack camping, it's mostly the same, albeit no truck around to keep the kid in while we set up.

I took him to the river at about 10 months but realized he was to young. Have been waiting patiently and now is time. Neither one of us wanted to go home lol.
Just have to watch him around the fishing pole. I almost caught a hook to the face and he came close to grabbing the lure. But the memories are worth it.

Awesome dad, good going! Hope you and your son have many more camping trips, minus the lightning. Great pic of your son, the dog, the tent, etc.
