Default My shop has a Camaro in it

Posted up a thread here about the unnecessary troubles I had obtaining the funds for this here https://discussions.texasbowhunter.c...d.php?t=780846

Thank you all for the recommendations as there were some lessons learned. Anyway. Here she is in her new home. No more severe neglect for it. Took me about 45 min to get it running. New battery, battery cable, and some corrections to the hot wire going to the coil did the trick. I will continue to update the project here. Need to replace the water pump and thermostat next. Water was not circulating and the water pump is a racing pump without accessory holes so the alternator bracket is dangling and causing the belt to scream. Guy really tried hard to trash this thing. I'm happy to have relieved him of his burden.

That is a sweet ride. Can’t wait to follow the progress. My uncle has a 73 that super Chevy and Chevy horsepower magazine came down and did a big photo shoot on. If you like fast cars check out the articles on my uncles car.

article, as far as I know, didn't say anything bout a front end swap. Thats a 70 1/2 front end. DOT made em change it for 71 because it didn't meet crash
standards.

One of the best looking cars made, up to that time anyway until they made em change it, but still looked pretty good. I had a 73 myself.

BTW nice looking project.

Here is the c10. It was my dads truck. He bought it in 1980. He gave it to my son three years ago and we redid it completely. Engine is a EFI 454. th400 trans. Dropped 5". The concept is 100% my sons. I added a bit of flare here and there, like the grey interior stitching, Auto meter dash, EFI, logo in the bed. It was a blessing to do this project with 3 generations helping.

My current 67 C10 project. I've owned a few first gen F-bodies. 67 RS and a 68 Firebird 400. Will probably pick up another one in the future after this ranch truck is complete.

One day if work and it is so much better. This car was severely neglected. It now has some paint on the engine. A new and correct water pump. Correct alternator bracket. That got rid of the squeal. New plugs and wires. Removed all the strikes wrapped hoses and blue wire loom. I donít have a good before pic. Trust me this is 1000x better.

Probably better that it ended up in your garage anyway

So I took the engine out last week. It was running strong. Car is pretty quick. It did have a bad vibration that I thought might be flywheel or a harmonic balancer issue. It leaks oil from most places it can. Most importantly though I found two flat bits of metal off the magnetic frail plug in the oil pan that were the size of a pencil eraser. Had me concerned. After taking the engine down I found a severely loose motor mount (frame side, not motor side). The metal bits were part of a previous dip stick. Pulled a main and rod cap. Bearings are awesome and the clearance was spot on so I left the crank and pistons in it. Itís a standard bore 4 bolt main. Aftermarket iron heads with 220 intake runners, 2.02 and 1.6 valves. 64cc chambers should leave it about 9:1 compression. Forged pistons. Cast crank. All what I was expecting to find. Itís all put together. Should have it back in in the next few weeks.

Well I didnít keep the car together long before tearing it down to become better. I have a long way to go but Iíve now acquired the new centerpiece. This is a Texas Speed LS7 all aluminum 427. Has 11.5:1 compression aggressive cam all the good stuff done to the heads. Should be 750hp at the crank. Iím really considering making this a trans-am tribute car with a cage and number 55 on it. Wife and I are still discussing. Iíll be pulling the front clip to redo all the front suspension, steering, and prepping for the new engine next.
