Default Latest youíve seen deer breed?

Watched a buck breed a doe today Feb 25th, in Franklin. Iíve seen fawns there in the 3rd-4th week of April, so this was pretty crazy to me.

Iíve been watching bucks(and one or two mature bucks) dogging does hard since about Wednesday last week in Bandera.

I had a spotted dawn on camera in Pipe Creek in late Oct/early Nov this past season.

Did it look like this year's doe fawn? That's when I see it happen this late, usually a early born fawn that has matured enough to go in cycle late. I'm not sure the percentage that fawn actually carries through birth and raises a fawn next year but this late season rut sure in hard on the bucks that need to be putting weight back on for the Spring.

Whitetail gestation is 201 days. So if you are seeing fawns in mid April then that doe was bred in early Oct.

We have some fawns born in late August or September every year, so fairly late. Likely yearling doe that cycled into heat late

I've seen a buck running a doe in April before in Val Verde County. No idea if he was successful or not but he was running her real hard all over the big canyon I was turkey hunting in.

When a doe fawn is 7 months old they come into season.
Late February or even early March.
Most hunters never see this but it happens every year.
