Default Hats off to Texas deer

I just moved to Texas and went to ole boys place outside Waco.
It was kind of a day hunt, low fence deal. Not advertised but from a guy I met on a Facebook group.

There was some good bucks on camera but werenít showing up as much.

Iíve hunted from Hawaii to Maryland and I must say the hill country deer are on another level of alertness and very skittish especially for opening day.

They are right up there with axis!

I ended up shooting two dry does, they might of birthed fawns but didnít have any with them.

I look forward to more hunts here in texas.
Stay tuned

Iím also bringing back truck bed pics instead of staged photos for 2021!

Congrats and I'm a fan of of traditional tail gate pics but without their tongues hanging out. You did good. Did a vampire get the doe closest to you?

Congrats on your does.

Whitetails can be very skittish here, but arenít even in the same league as axis deer! Axis are the spookiest deer on the planet!!!

FYI you can’t have a proper “deer in the truck” pic without a beer in your hand.

Welcome and sorry we missed each other at the ISA Conference. Congrats on the does! Deer here in Texas are like animals everywhere else in the world, they're a product of their surroundings. Heavily hunted deer (those on a day hunt type place with constant pressure) will be very alert and spooky. In my neighborhood, we are overrun with deer that are never hunted and they'll let you walk within 10 yards of them as they're used to people.

The great thing about Texas is there's something for everyone and every skill level, but you may have to pay for that privilege since most land is private.

He was referring to Joe’s BBQ in Alvin. You need to go in Fried Shrimp day, better get there early because it will be busy!!

Nice double on the doe, good sausage in your future…

I took some youth out with a friend down in south Texas and they let the Yankee Give it a whirl!

I shot 5 doves and I guess the one dove is uncommon.

Not pictured is the javelina boar I missed with my pistol lol.
