Brother Arrows Javi for Peccary Gloves

A little footage of the javelina my brother, Martin, arrowed from Killin Tree a couple of weekends ago. He cleaned the javi and saved the backstraps. More interestingly, he's going to attempt to make a pair of peccary gloves from the hide! Anybody ever heard of such?

I had a rug made out of one I killed last yr.Suprisingly the leather is very soft yet tough.Should be perfect for a pair of gloves.

        Michael,
There is a gunsmith here in Victoria that had a couple of Sako 22-250's he made a couple of custom stocks for out of mesquite wood. The butt plate and grip caps were going to be covered in javi hide that looked like it was sanded down until it was almost paper thin. I was amazed at how supple that stuff was. The finished product was absolutely beautiful.

Peccary gloves are a big deal in South America.

There used to be a company in Kingsville that commercially made work gloves out of javelina hide. I believe they operated in the early 1900s.

Is Martin going to tan the hide himself or have it done commercially?

I wonder how javelina would work for a pair of custom boots?

I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure he'll do it himself.

It would be unique! Probably mask any foot odor!

I want boots AND gloves. I heard the gloves last forever. Think how soft and tough ostrich is! But not really interested in gutting and skinning any more javelinas !

Yeah, that's crazy! Now I want a pair!

YouTube's algorithm demonetized this video. Not sure if it's because of the footage of him skinning the animal or something else. Hopefully they'll reinstate it after 1k views for review.
