Why can't I get behind Iowa State being a "legit" contender?

OU is seemingly building a monster, and I suppose it's pretty wide open between TCU, tu, OSU and ISU after that. (Any of them can definitely play "spoiler") but I actually feel like the Longhorns might be the only team with talent and depth to potentially contend for any form of championship...if everything falls into place.

I didnít realize, until this week, they have a two headed monster with the QB and RB (possible H candidates apparently).

They have been pretty good. They return 20 starters I think. They beat OU the first time last year. Beat Oregon by 17 in a NY6 bowl.

Meh. Texas needs to beat them. They should have last year.

I try to stay out of this mess as much as possible, but could not let this one go.

A&M smashed UNC? UNC missing 4 out of 5 of their best players in a game that was tied with a minute and a half left in the game is smashing someone?

Are you referring to all the sparkle fairies and BLM protesters at UT? Might have a hard time getting schools to commit to bringing their own police escort with them since there won't be many police left in Austin if the Libs have their way!!

To certain extent and all the Tent cities and trash in downtown. If I had a son/daughter being recruited I wouldnít even consider going to that liberal crap hole. It has to have an effect

Something changed. The athletic program just knocked Stanford off it's 20 year perch atop the Directors Cup standing. Del Conte appears to be starting a DeLoss Dodds type run. His coaching hires have all been stellar so far. Hopefully Sark will be the same. The talent is there. I'm not saying they will win the Big 12 and make the playoff. I'm just saying a definate 5th place finish in the conference without even "playing for" a higher spot is not going to be the case.

I think Sark is a good coach/offensive coordinator but you have to attribute some of that success to the talent depth of Bama. Hell the they had 4-5 stars 2 deep at every position and the greatest coach of all time at the Helm. His HC stint at Washington and USC wasn’t all that impressive

It has to have a recruiting issue. Hell last TCU football game we went to my truck got stolen and 6-12 cars got broken into. And we were blocks away from campus

So with Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State locked in play offs for 2021-22 season the rest of the schools are competing for the 4 spot. I can only hope and pray my aggies sneak in.

I wouldn't be so quick to pencil Clemson in. They face UGA in week 1. I realize they can overcome an early loss (especially with their week-ish remaining schedule), but it's definitely not a given that they get in.

At this point I'd lean toward Bama, tOSU, Oklahoma as fairly heavy favorites. Clemson likely has the upper hand on the 4 spot (even with a loss to UGA - I still think they give the benefit to a conference champ) followed closely by Oregon and UGA.

Clemson has been loading up on players the last couple of years. They lost a lot of production on the offense side of the ball, so it might take them a bit to get rolling. I don't think another team deserves to be in that spot until somebody steps up. Looks like UGA has that chance in week 1.

I dont think Clemson skips a beat with DJ at QB. That kid is going to be 1/1 in my opinion. Their defense is what bothered me last year. They really need some improvement down the field. With some growing/experience up front they should come back around to the top of the heap.

This may come back to bite me, but I will never respect UGA. Their lack of winning the big games with that level of talent is ridiculous.
