        Another one is Burnet in the hill country. It's Burn-IT. I went to school with a guy that was from Burnet and anytime someone would say "Burr-net", he's say "It's Burn-it durn it, can't you learn it." That's how i learned how to pronounce it.

            My dad grew up around Burnett and he said Burn-it. Now for Mexia, some locals I know say may-hair.

                          Love it when storms in Gulf etc. and northern and even many local folks whether living here or from other places in News Casts say Refugio. For those learning just put an R in place of the G so it is like fu with the U sounding like a U. At least this one can be tolerated and entertaining being mispronounced.
