    The Timer issues

I bought 3 a few years ago and have not been impressed. One quit working last year and last week I find one looking like this...Any ideas what could have caused this? Seems like a lot of y’all have had good luck with them.

Well that's the first time I've seen one get cooked. Was it connected to a solar panel? Did anything else get burned like the battery, solar panel, etc.?

In spite of your experience, it's still the best timer on the market IMO.

Could have been a bad battery, or some type of power surge like a lightning strike.

Not sure what caused it, but would probably replace battery and solar panel. Would also check out motor if there is no fuse going to it.

looks like an internal short to negative on an internal relay. a 1 amp inline fuse between the + side of the battery and timer will prevent this from happening.

Call and see if they will warranty it. They’ve been good to me customer service wise.

Looks like it got a little warm. About 2 years ago they had a bad batch of them but they replaced them no problems. I have some that are 15 years old. I wouldn't think that is the timer issue.

Sir you have had an “electrical event” !! Should be able to return them for replacement I would think.

Good customer service is doing a recall when you know you have a defective product. Not replacing it after the defective product fails.

That was my first thought as well.
