What kind of block form supplement will the deer eat?

I put a molasses tub for the deer here at my house and thought the deer would use it, after a week they haven’t touched it. I don’t want to put deer blocks out cause the deer will eat it in one night, so I was wondering what else they will like? Any ideas? Thanks

Poor some corn on top of the tub.

Get a trace mineral block from your feed store or Tractor Supply. They are hard blocks, cost less than $10, and will last a long time.

I put corn and some alfalfa hay and they wouldn’t touch it, even the axis snubbed their noses, lol

I use those trace mineral blocks from tractor supply. Red /brown ones. I split them in half into 25lb blocks . Then I take a 1/2 " bit and drill a bunch of holes in it. Then cover it molasses. They will lick the molasses off the top pretty quick but the holes drilled into will store it quite a while. I do use wildlife molasses that does contain ground up corn.

Be aware that they won’t use the blocks this time of year like they will in the spring/summer when bucks are building antlers and does are lactating. You’ll see the most use from January until late summer.

Trophy rock is expensive but they can't stay off it
I've tried two of those $7 red blocks from tractor supply and they just aren't as good

Trophy rock is worth the money
