Bet it opened up 50-75yds after shot. I’ve had a few do that on good shots and not go 75-100yds and be laying in a pile of blood and double-lunged. Good call to backout if not certain and he’ll still be dead in the morning. Look forward to LDP’s. Good luck!

If you look back to my big deer last month, you’ll see a giant hole in him. It sprayed a little blood at the shot then zero blood for 100 yards till he fell. And there was blood all over the place there. Might be what happened here. Looking at your arrow I’d say he’s dead. Good luck in the morning. Looking forward to pics!

Dead Deer, you will find him in the morning. Sometimes it takes a little while for the blood to fill up to the hole height.Look for tiny drops from his nose and mouth.
