Looking at property out that way. How is the hunting there? Schools? People? Brookshire Brothers? Give me the low down. Thanks, Matt

That’s a great area. I have a friend that is a real estate agent in Hamilton and she is always very busy.

I would say the quality of deer and hunting is heavily dependent on the part of town and the pressure around you. I've hunted there for 20 years and don't harvest a deer there every year. We have 220 acres with pressure on all sides, so the deer get smart quickly and most don't make it past 4.5 yrs. 120"-130" would probably be about the biggest deer we've ever seen.

Great area. Grew up dove hunting there, and drive through there a few times a year, going to Lubbock. It's one of my favorite parts of Texas.

It was when we bought our ranch sw of Lampasas. And there had to be a super HEB within 25 miles.
Dog house lives just outside of Hamilton. You could probably ask him your questions. Last edited by Draco; 05-26-2022 at 10:27 PM. |

I hope you get as lucky with finding a place as we did. Ours is beautiful, lots of animals and was cheap.

It’s a great town and community. Don’t know anything about the schools. Hunting can be great especially if you have the oaks and shin oak brush. Have seen some nice deer in the mesquite and ag fields. Dove can hit and miss. Good white wing population around town and southwest part of county. I would live there in a heartbeat if I could. They have Wenzel lone star meats and storms...you don’t need anything else.
