    Solar water well timer

Anyone ever had a solar well with a timer? Right now mine is either on or off.

Thanks for any comments or experiences.

    Thank you

Probably no help but if it has a tank you can hook up a float switch that turns off when full. That's what we did.

Yes. Wired in a simple 12 volt timer with its own battery and solar power to it. Has worked for several years.

Where in the system did you put it?

Curious Why would you use a timer as opposed to a float switch? I’m sure there’s a good reason I just can’t figure it.

I'm thinking the same thing. Why a timer?

We may try a float switch. Thanks for the idea.
I have never had a solar well or a drought like this one. Previously we would let the windmill fill another above ground tank and then shut the windmill
                  off
I don’t mind the pump overflowing out of the reservoir tank into a small natural hole for wildlife
So I thought I would let it run a few hours each day to refill approx what the cows drink plus a little overflow.

Wish I had put the float valve wire in the same ditch as my underground pipe from solar panels and switch to reservoir. Live and learn

                  Thanks for the input.

Float switch is the ticket if it will work for you

Finished installing the solar float switch today.
Only an 1100 gallon tank that gravity feeds multiple troughs.
Switches solar well on when tank level drops 200 (+/-) gallons. Auto shuts off when tank is full again.

                        Thanks again.
