    East TX Jawbone

How old? I have him at 2 - 3 based on tooth 4 wear. This deer had me all throwed off based on photos (I didn’t shoot him, my cousin did)

I’m not great at aging by toothwear but I will say this: east Texas seem to have a generally softer diet so their teeth don’t wear as fast. This means their toothwear will often give an indication that they’re younger than they actually are.

Thats just my experience, opinion at least.

Agree with your assessment of 3 tops.

Yes 2 and maybe 3. Would have to breakout the micrometer to determine relative width of dentine vs enamel on tooth 4. And that'd be silly. But teeth 3, 5, and 6 really thin to qualify for 3 yrs. From a management standpoint, safe to say deer had not reached full antler potential.

Also, there has been no completed scientific research, that I'm aware of, that has evaluated differences in tooth wear as they relate to region, soil texture, diet, etc.
