For years I’ve asked the Moms with girl scouts can I give them a 60-second Sales 101 talk and they can be done in an hour. The Moms say yes, the girls don’t listen.

I tell them they’re not selling cookies/ they’re selling the dream. Not “do you want to buy cookies?” Instead “will you support girl scouting in our community?” Then be quiet and count to 10 waiting for an answer.

If no, say thank you.

If yes, pick up different 2 boxes and ask “would you like thin mints or cookies?”.

Then ask “1 box or 2? Maybe another one to bring to work?”

The Moms all understand. Adolescent females- no.
