Default All in the Family and the Jeffersons

I just saw there is a new version of these shows coming on tomorrow night. It's gonna be live in front of a studio audience like they did it back then. This is the first I've heard of it. I know I watched the heck out of both of those shows back in the day. I have almost zero hope for the 2019 politically correct version to be any good. I'm at least gonna record it. Maybe I will be surprised. Anyone else gonna check it out? Did y'all watch the originals?

Jimmy Kimmel is involved with this project, I am sure it will be far left propaganda disguised as a two throwback politically in correct classic sitcoms. I hate that he has turned into such a tool because I used to love the Man Show.

I watched them both. I loved the Jeffersons. Used to watch them after the news too for years after they did their last show. All in the Family was good too but I never went looking for it..

Gonna be weird watching them in PC... they non PC parts were the funniest lines in both shows.

A lot of these shows made fun of various nationalities. None more than Fred G Sanford. He loved to rag on Jews, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, and honkies. That was a great show also. Politics have robbed us of fun and humor.

Agreed. I don't see how they can do these shows any justice. I loved the Archie Bunker character. I watched way more episodes of the Jeffersons than I did of All in the family. I do miss the days when everyone wasn't so offended and people could laugh at our differences

It will be interesting to see what name is used instead of "meathead". I may have to record them to see how they twist the shows for the PC crowd.

Anything would be better than those singing competition shows, ( AI, voice, USA can dance, dance of stars, X factor ) , those shows should be moved to replace jimmy kimmel, and jimmy fallen , ect time slots, “ I despise every self righteous liberal blow hard who is on late night tv “ and would rather take a hammer to my thumb then watch Saturday night live

Lear hints to “surprises” in store and Kimmel is involved. Yup, it’s gonna be swinging hard left you can bet on it.

And same here...I used to love the Man Show with Kimmel and Adam Corolla. Now I wouldn’t p*** on a burning JK!

They certainly both went opposite directions in the political spectrum. Carolla is a solid constitutional conservative.

y'all do realize that both of original shows were very liberal at the time right ?
The Archie Bunker character was supposed to be the backwards ignorant conservative to be made fun of by the progressive son in law and daughter
That kind of backfired on them because most people agreed with Archie ! LOL

Both wont Be worth a dang. What made those shows great was being politically incorrect and blatant racist to the point of exposing how stupid and ignorant racism is. That was the brilliance of the two shows.

I thought Marissa as Edith was OK, but didn't like Woody as Archie at all, too over the top. The Jeffersons seems to be a little better. Neither as good as the originals though.

Woody Harrelson is a good actor but I did not buy him as Archie. For one thing his attempt at a Queens/New York accent was painfully bad. Everybody else was pretty good.

Well I'm impressed!

I was not expecting them to recreate the original scripts. I remember seeing both of those episodes back in the day. I enjoyed it. The Jeffersons cast did a better job of acting imo. I did like Edith's performance though. The scene on The Jeffersons when they were opening the door to meet the maid, I thought to myself it would be cool to have the original actor play this part. I was happy to see 88 year old Marla Gibbs appear. Norman Lear, wow! 96 years old, and looks great! Jamie Foxx played a good George Jefferson too. It was fun to watch, and took me back to the days when people had a sense of humor, and didn't get offended so easily. I miss those days.

I didnt see the first 45 min but the rest was awesome. It was interesting that they didnt bleep honky but did bleep the n word. I really think both shows really show both sides, the good and the bad. Honestly I think we need that now more than ever. Of course, shallow minded idiots cant see past the racial slurs and actually understand what is really going on.

Jaime Fox did a good job being George with the jacket tugging, head swiveling and quick laughs. Woody had a few of the Archie expressions down OK. Meathead stunk and so did daddys little girl. Tomei was OK but a bit over the top. Good recovery by Fox when he messed up the lines. It was live TV.
Creativity must be on its last breath in Hollywood. Everything is being remade.
The thing with remakes is we have something to compare them to, instead of seeing them for the first time. I wound up changing channel and watching Wolf chase Bison in Yellowstone.

I looked at it as a tribute to the old shows and the man who created them. It is what it is. They were not trying to reinvent the wheel. I thought it was fun to watch. If you were expecting them to somehow be better than the originals then of course it would be disappointing. I don't even think these actors believed they were doing that. Seemed to be like it was all in good fun, and paying tribute.

I caught the last 30 minutes or so. Wish I had seen the first part but I am sure it will be online eventually. Watched all of the re-runs as a kid growing up, it was really awesome when they opened the door and Marla Gibbs was standing there!

Come on Jeff, you and I could do it word for word, that only means we parrot the script, replication requires more than recitation. It includes chemistry of the characters. You can buy a kit to make a Pinto into a Porsche, but under the thin veneer, you’re stuck with a

I agree, but like I said. I don't think they were trying to literally be the originals. Just pay a tribute to them.
