Well not a bad night but not a great one. Weston was up for much of it, his tummy is still hurting. The meds and everything else have him stopped up and I can only imagine between the surgery and 3 drain tubes how much it hurts to push. We were watching cartoons when Dr’s rounded earlier and they didn’t spend long outside his door so I missed what they said other than we are moving out of ICU. Nurse didn’t catch everything either, she said she thought they said taking out drain tubes today but wasn’t sure. His output on tubes has been very low which is fantastic! If they pulled the drain tubes less than 48 hours after the Fontan surgery that would be AMAZING! He is finally sleeping and so is momma she was up with him for several hours last night. So far so good thank you everyone for the prayers! I know they work!

If they are pulling drain tubes, that is a great sign. The pulling of the drain tube, he only had one, was the worst part for my son. Just make sure the pain meds are fully on board before they start and make sure he understand that when it's over the pain will go away quickly. Once those drain tubes are out he will be a lot more moble and everything will be easier.

Ya with the previous 3 surgeryís heís only had 1 chest tube. With the Fontan because the lungs and other organs receive double the blood flow they are used to they put in 3. 1 chest and 1 on each side of the lungs because of leakage. Itís what makes the stay after the Fontan so long. I donít think the nurse heard correctly earlier, I bet they will pull the chest tube and leave the other 2. His drainage is very minimal but I think it would be unheard of to pull the other 2 so quick. Even after they pull those 2 they normally observe them for 48 hours to see how drainage is.

Very busy morning today. Neck line out, rode bike 2 laps, walked 1 lap, 1 chest tube out. Now out of ICU and in a private RM. Chest tube helped stomach stop hurting some. He’s doing good, still not much of an appetite but he won’t blow away in the wind if he looses a little bit of weight. Here is a video of him on the bicycle.

Morning everyone, Weston is still doing good. We had visitors yesterday, uncle and grandma. Did some more walking around but not to much. The 2 drain tubes that are left are still draining but not to much. We were able to swap over to suction bulbs which allows us to be more mobile. Weston’s surgeon just stopped by while I was typing this, said everything looked amazing and we should get the 2 chest tubes left removed soon. Just to keep him walking and eating. Eating has been our only issue, his tummy is still backed up, he is on several meds to help but no luck yet. Pain meds have that effect on people, hopefully he will get some relief today.

Getting his bowels moving again is a big issue and the drugs are even harder on the little ones. Staying hydrated helps and if he won't eat then maybe sipping on soup or broth. I'm sure the nurses are telling you this, just trying to help.
Maybe ice cream or cake or a cookie might be the answer to getting something solid in his stomach.
Glad to hear the tubes are coming out soon.

Lord, we praise You and we thank You for this great work that You have done in Weston. We come to You Lord with a plea to open up his digestive tract, give him relief and restore his system to normal. Weston is such a tough trooper and we thank You for giving this little man that can-do attitude and such a brightness and smile about his countenance that he uplifts all who are near him. We ask You Lord, move his bowel and give him comfort. Remove the stress from mom and dad that they my start to enjoy their sweet little boy again. Watch over all of them as they heal and return home soon. Lord we Love You, and we lift You up and give You all the honor, and glory for You are worthy Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.

Praise the Lord!

Lord will know when it is time to remove the tubes. He is guiding Weston's care-givers! They are His servants in all of this!

Maybe I should ask for a little patience for mom n dad? Just kidding! I don't know how y'all have maintained such a great attitude about all of this! My gut gets twisted in knots just reading your updates even though they are all 99% positive!! I just don't do well thinking about the little ones suffering...

Believe it or not the build up in the weeks and months beforehand is the hardest on us, once the surgery happens is the easiest part. The first 3 surgeries were so close together we didnít have time to think. This one got delayed a year, and then 4 weeks. Way too much time to think about things lol.

We had a busy busy day yesterday! Stayed out of bed most of the day walking and playing. Then Bailey came to say hi and we got to play fetch! Still having issues holding food down and with shoulder pain. Talking with Drís this morning the tubes are to blame for the shoulder pain more than likely. We switched up some Meds today to hopefully help. We thought we might get tubes out today but not sure, one hardly has any drainage but the other still has a bit. Good news is itís all clear fluid so everything is still looking great! Thank you everyone again for the thoughts and prayers.

Morning everyone, Weston is in great spirit today as most days. Been up walking and playing and having a blast learning to play monopoly with mommy. Still having some problems keeping food down mostly in the morning and his right chest tube is still draining quite a bit. His lungs look great just that one side draining still. As soon as his drainage slows down we can pull the tubes and then be monitored for 36-48 hours to make sure lungs still look good then we get to head home!! He is ready because there just isnít much to do on the floor we are on and we can go far because of the drain tubes. Have a blessed Sunday!
