Constantly sheriff's dept riding on the edge of the dunes behind the crowd on horseback, patrol vehicles closer to the water. Pretty effective.

More than enough booze and fights for anyone.

Your memory must be fading on you.
😂I remember that ride, I had to be hand cuffed to a drunk shrimper that wouldnít shut up!

Start another family Jeep party but don't tell everyone.

Don't think that will happen. Read the laws on Texas public beaches

I saw the pictures on the Chronicle website. Now, I'll admit that I'm no underwear model, but holey moley! Absolutely not the most attractive group of folks to visit the beach. Sunburned fat as far as the eye can see.

i probably spent enough time on bolivar peninsula when i was young to say i grew up there. I was 16 in 1990 and we spent almost every wknd (sundays) on the beach in the summer and when i wasn't hanging out with friends i was fishing the surf. it was never close to what happened this past wknd.

That's why you get charged to have a vehicle on the beach these days. The sticker funds trash cleanup.

That trash will be there for weeks if not months. Last year I went to the beach 2 weeks after jeep weekend and it was still trashed.

Trashing the beaches is awful. I rarely go down there unless I have meetings at UTMB. I buy seafood and head back home.

It stinks to see these types of events go down the tubes.

I don't necessarily think people are crazier now then back in the day. I saw plenty of crazy stuff growing up on the coast back in the 80's and 90's. Same goes for floating the rivers in the hill country.

One major factor that often seems overlooked is population. These areas see thousands upon thousands more visitors now than ever before; same for these annual type events. Local law enforcement simply is overmatched.

Crystal Beach may be a pain to get to, however, there's roughly 6 million people that live within 100 miles of there. That number was half that much in the mid 90's.

Mugshots for those arrested https://m.chron.com/news/houston-tex...photo-17514224

Seems like 1/3 are no seat belt charges. How boring.

Iíll leave the crappy beaches to the upper coast folks

Seat belts, which only went to those being a PIA because no one had belts on!

And surprisingly high number of unlawful carry charges.

Not saying I don't believe you, but Crystal beach is never "Clean". Maybe the residents picked up the little stretch you were at, but the whole beach is going to be trashed.

I was part of the 90's crowd down there at both Jamaica Beach (when you could drive on the beach) and Crystal Beach. I didn't enjoy my stay in Galveston County but it was well deserved.
