Man, that does look worse than first blush. Hoping for the best/quickest recovery and you donít have any comorbidities that will slow recovery.

Yes sir broken toes.

This is the "worse" picture.
Showed it to the Dr on my 1st visit to him. He asked if he could share it with some of his surgical interns. I consented. He says it shows Compartment Syndrome.
Compartment syndrome is a condition in which increased pressure within one of the body's anatomical compartments results in insufficient blood supply to tissue within that space.
Without blood tissue and muscle die.

Drs waiting for the swelling to subside and wounds to heal.
He told me next week he'll likely get an X-Ray and than manipulate them to see if the tendons are damaged. I can't honestly say I'm looking forward to latter..

He also told me last week that bones need 3 things to heal without surgical intervention.
1) Stability - He can provide that
2) Blood Flow
3) Bones in close proximity to each other.
He's not sure on 2 & 3. He thinks I've had compartment syndrome and he's not sure if and how much the blood flow has been compromised. The 1st bone in my big toe is in 5-7 pieces.

Compartment syndrome is a rough one. Had they known that up front they would’ve done a fasciotomy and sliced deep into the fascia to relieve the pressure. Hoping nothing is necrotic and they can make everything right again once the swelling goes down. Big toe is a comminuted fx and needs some internal fixation (plate, screws, etc). 2nd and 3rd still lined up well enough not to mess with in my opinion (or possible pin through both of them to hold alignment) They’ll probably heal on their own if they stay where they are on X-ray. May be a tough road back but just comply with your doctor at all costs and you’ll get back to normal. Non-compliance is #1 factor for a fx not healing and/or revisions having to be done. Wish you the best of luck! (12yrs Ortho Trauma Consultant. Seen every fx known to man and was there to fix em all too)

I go tomorrow for my 3rd Drs appt.

Last week he said he'll get new X Ray's & likely manipulate the toes to check the tendons. Sounds painful to me...

Took this picture yesterday.
Looks bad but lots better than it used to
Saturday I pulled the dead skin off

Well I tried posting the picture. It didn't post.

I have AT&T, there's a tower down in the area. Had none to limited cell service for the past 5 days......

Default Foot Dr needed

The Dr took new x-rays..
Said yep itís still broken :-)
The big toeís healing, still got a gap between a couple of pieces. They donít think surgery will provide any benefit over letting it heal.
The other 2 toes are healing.
They want me to come back in 3 weeks, still on no work restrictions Thatíll be 6 weeks off .

Left the Drs at 330 and went to work to drop off the Drs note. About 10 minutes into the trip my toes started hurting. I mean not an ache like itís been but PAIN. I got home about 6pm. Took the walking boot off and elevated my foot. Pain eased a bit. It hasnít hurt this bad before. My wife just brought me 2 Motrin and put an ice pack back on it for me.

Workers Comp has mailed me my wage benefit, not sure if itís for 2 or 3 weeks. Either way itíll cover my financial obligations for the month of May.

Iím thankful itís not Deer season.

Most importantly Iím thankful for Jesusí sacrifice and provision.

Back at the Podiatrist.
Just had X Ray's taken.
2 and 3rd toes healing.
Big toe not so much. Still looked broke and displaced to me.
Waiting on the Dr
Skin looks lots better

Big toe isn't lined up good.
It'll heal fine, but won't be "normal".It'll also be a tad shorter than the one on my right foot
Not being "normal" is my "normal". I hate that!!!

I'll try and draw you a visual picture.
Looking top down,
It's straight.
It's shifted off to the right a tiny bit and back.

There's voids on the sides he'd like to see fill in more.

Ask him for a bone stimulator. That will help it fill in. Won’t correct alignment but will fill in voids

No idea, always my fear is dropping something supper heavy and the steel clamping down and chopping toes off. But, if its that heavy more than likely wouldnt help either way.
