Because he was a Mexican?
Is it offensive to identify a person by their race?
Would you have questioned his motive if he was at the casino and said "an old Mexican man next to me won a million on a slot machine"?
Seems the current trend in society is to look for a reason to be offended. I think it's been slowly embedded in our minds and it's becoming more "natural" to us all.
