Default Live Solo Axis hunt in the hill country

Just fueled up at bucees and headed to my place to do some Axis bow hunting. Well I figured since my first unemployment check came in and got caught up on some things around the house. I figured I'll try to put a little more meat in the freezer. Also gonna do some working building pens around my feeders to keep the cows off the water and alfalfa. I'm gonna spend couple 2,3,4,5days a week or whenever I get tired and come home.

I remember reading on here where a guy added a pulley and a rope to top bar and used the ranger to pull it which lifted it into the back. It was a while back. Seemed like a good idea.

Yeah I can do that if I can get the side by side close enough. But i don't like to drag them at all because the hair comes off with the rocks. If I have to I'll pack him out to the side by side.

Where is your place? Axis are starting to rut. Slept with the windows open last night and they were roaring all night.

I've done it with axis and whitetails both in my UTV and my F250. Tie a pretty good length of rope (I used one of those cheap ratchet straps) around the base of the antlers. Climb in the bed of the UTV or truck with the other end in your hand. Standing in the bed, pull up on the deer until you can grab the antlers near the bases and basically deadlift that sucker up until you can take a step or two backwards and drag the rest of him in the bed. It's always easier if their gutted first, but I've done it with them not field dressed.
