About 550 acres at today's price of 3900 dollars per acre and haven't killed a deer in 10 years. Grand kids and Great nephews have. Not a good investment but love the smiles when hunting. I do run a few cows.

I know exactly how much I spent but I’m trying to figure out how to frame the equation when the number of deer killed is zero.

Im glad I dont keep track...cost would be ugly. Besides the lease cost, just an average wkend trip always costs me at least $60-70 including gas, beer, ice, food.

But the return is always pretty good, even if the weather sux, camper leaks, or an atv wont start.

I got off pretty easy this year.

                  Deer 1-
                  Fuel $50
                  280 round $1.50
280 and scope $1100, although this combo has more than paid for itself.
                  (Invite hunt)

                  Deer 2-
                  Corn $200
                  Feeder parts $50
                  Game camera $110
Bow, arrows, etc $1700, but same story as above.
                  (Free lease, feeder, tripod)

So far 1 deer in 2 yrs of owning the place so roughly $270,000
My math is similar to yours

But nobody can decide to give me the boot or make up a bunch of BS rules I have to adhere to either

When they come off your own place they are priceless! And a whole lot cheaper!

Last year they were about 1400 each. No new blings or feeders but we did put in a new water system that my share was about 350.

The total has got two commas in it, and then divide by zero....priceless.

                            New dirt
                            New fences and gate
                            New stands
                            New feeders
                            Yellow feed and brown feed
                            Game cameras
                            Electric pole
                            New kubota
                            New roads
New well and new tank coming

Why are we having this discussion? Let’s just all agree it’s worth every penny

No way I'm doing this math

I figured if I hadn't bought my hunting place and spent so much chasing deer and hogs I could have retired a little earlier. But who cares! I rather enjoy it now vs spending a few extra years in the recliner during retirement.
