My mom is far from a high roller, but she hit 10k on the way out the door at winstar 2 months back. My dad was upstairs grabbing their bag to leave when she hit it.

Vegas keeps up with the high rollers and offers them free comps on lots of things to get them back out there. It's called making money for the casino!

Well- I’ve done a ton of research and asked questions around this. I’ve played a lot too at the Nugget in LC and play at Livingston which of course is an Indian Reservation. The IR casinos are not regulated by the gaming commission. They do not have to report their slot payouts. They generally have a higher payback on their slots (which is all Livingston has) because they don’t have all the comps to give out to the players. They need something to draw players in. I hit 12 hand pays in one session (about 12 hrs of playing) at Livingston last year, but have also been smoked more than once. My experience playing (and again I’ve played a lot) is you will rarely come out ahead year over year.

This right here is the 100% truth. I have the same experience.

Took gaming management in college and toured casinos, horse tracks and dog tracks. This isn’t intended to be a knock on anyone on this thread but it’s laughable that gamblers think they are actually making money long term on anything outside of dog races and poker and that’s only if you really understand those two options. Any other type of play for any period of time and you are losing. The only exception to the rule is the lighting strike lottery winner where a slot pays someone a mega payout and they stop gambling after that. Truth is truth regardless of anyone’s opinion on regulations etc. no judgement here for those who enjoy it and would otherwise blow the money on a good hunt or something but if you’re spending legitimate cash you hope to increase to pay for a debt or future retirement, please seek help.

                  This is true.
But nothing wrong with people who gamble for fun trying to increase their odds. And that includes avoiding worse odd games etc. Which is why I'm curious about player cards etc.

If my $200 can last just a few hours longer that would be great LOL

Went to Vegas about 6 months ago with my wife, and nearly all the games I can afford are all automated. And then a $10 craps table now is changed, blackjack is changed, and nearly all table games have changed to give more odds to the house. Even downtown, it's hard to find a straight up $10 blackjack table.

I personally am skeptical about electronic gaming
But my uncle Hank and aunt Vicky love it and claim to be winning
They must be high roller’s because when they moved from Texas to Mississippi, they lived @ three different casinos in biloxi Ms till they closed on their new place
                      Rooms, breakfast, dinner, drinks
And claimed to be cleaning house @ the tables and slots
They did say they had entertained friends and family who had all been fleeced because they didn’t follow the system
I still don’t understand how they got lodging, booze, breakfast, and walked away not broke?

We like to gamble a lot. My wife plays the slots and I only play the table games.

The house has the odds. The house advantage varies game to game but the house always has the odds.

If you play any game long enough you will lose. That's a function of statistics. If you believe anything else then you don't understand statistics.

                              Very true.

Another variable many don't think about is even when a player wins; often the casino is not paying out true odds.

For example, a roulette wheel has 38 numbers including the zero and double zero. If you hit a number, the typical payout is 35 to 1; not 38 to 1. The house actually retains a percentage of what should be your true winnings. Most bets on the Craps table are paid out in similar fashion, which is why the Odds bet behind the pass line or laying odds behind the Don't pass is so popular. True odds are actually paid on these bets.

The wife and I hit the casinos a couple times per year. We consider it entertainment and never gamble more than the bank roll we show up with. If we leave down, we just chalk it up to paying for some entertainment, just about like any other form of entertainment that is not free.

Also, just about anyone that says they "broke even" in reality, probably was down $300-$500.
