    Best Fall Foodplot East Texas

What forage has been the best for you in fall in East Texas, i'm in woodville. Normally plant the fall mix and seed oats heavy, any other ideas or opinions?

    Wheat
    Rye
    Few purple top turnips
    Even fewer Australian winter peas

        This.......

I’ve even moved away from the dicots-

And don’t get in a hurry planting it, 10/15-10/21 is plenty early and you may even get lucky and miss the army worms[emoji849]

Was about to mention. They are out NOW

About the size of an eyelash... so those that are overachievers on Labor Day will probably be replanting

Wood co. This morning. Tiny. Look for “tick birds” (white cattle egrets)

Turnips have not worked well for me. They are fine for late season after a good frost. Rye grass just looks good imo. Australian winter peas are great. Also oats, wheat, and pintos

It’s amazing the difference from place to place. In 20 years of plotting I don’t have any proof or evidence of a deer eating an Australian winter pea in any property I plant on (but they still have their place)

I have fields at the dairy you can’t grow a sunflower. They eat every bud..... 1.5 miles west I could dang near have a combine come out. Won’t touch em. About same deer density

Same but opposite with turnips. They destroy them at “The Cottonmouth “..... only place I’ve ever seen them eaten (but again, they have their place)

Even if you miss the worms, every time I have planted this early the plots burned up.

Plant early Oct for a consistent crop now
