    Sick Axis?

My wife shot a axis spike this evening. She mentioned that he was moving slow and wasn’t acting normal. The arrow passed through and he just walked off. We gave him 30 min and got on blood. He made 15 yards. Once I started skinning I noticed what looks to be clogged veins. I didn’t want to take a chance so I dumped him. I’ve never seen this in any of the axis I’ve killed in the last 25 years. What’s yalls thoughts?

Need more pics of the blonde to determine axis health....

Joking aside, looks like the blood just coagulated after it died

It might just be the picture but it looks like claw marks on it’s back leg.

That is probably the side he was laying on.

Might be a snake bite, just guessing.

U probably did the right thing if you questioned if the animal was sick.

Out in that area right now I would we very suspicious of anthrax. You handling is not good if it was. Be sure to watch for anything out of the ordinary on both of yall over the next few days...
