I've been using my G3 ski poles, seem to work fine. I did pickup some Blackovis carbon fiber from Camofire this summer though.

To add on to #8 above..

If you're puttin in serious mile up or down.. Wrap Leukotape around the pole.. Its a skin tape that won't come off and keeps your feet from getting blisters and hot spots. Also can be used as a bandage if you get a large gash or cut.

Cascades from Amazon....aluminum with cork handles for $30. I had zero issues with them.

Mine are Mountainsmith carbonlite with cork handles.. love using them. Now that I'm in Washington and the elevation is real.. I use them all the time.

My wife has a Black Diamond pair and they are even better but high dollar

Get one of these. Handier than carry shooting sticks also.
Add the Quick-StiX to your trekking poles and instantly have a pair of shooting sticks in the palm of your hands.

I bought two sets of those this year and mounted some to my Blackovis poles. They didn't quite fit with the grips but got them rigged up. They could be a great option, but I need to practice deploying them quickly or they could be a cluster at go-time.

I decided to go with Academy. $32. If these break during my hunt I will not feel that bad about it. I will just chunk them and cut a branch and finish with that.
