Buy the parts and build it yourself. I haven't built anything other than a 10/22 and a couple AR15s but the 10/22, I honestly can't imagine it ever being any more simple.

Ruger 10/22 is best all around. IMO

Ruger 10/22 or 77/22 or a used Marlin model 60 if you can't find a new one.

If it's a beater get a Savage or a Mossberg Plinkster. They're good guns for the money. Nothing fancy but will work every time you squeeze the trigger.

I’ve been looking at that BXR quite a bit. How’s it shooting? Has it been picky on ammo at all?

Another 10/22 vote. A few subsonic loads have failed to cycle (rare), but it chews through all standard 22 ammo.

If budget allows, tactical solutions x ring is a very good rifle. I love mine. 77/22 is great too but they are sky high now.

You might look into getting a Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22. My sister and my cousin both have one. It's accurate enough I hit a 9mm casing with it at 25 yards using cheap ammo. Pretty good rifles and they look cool too. As far as I know neither rifle has had any feeding problems or anything.

It's just an AR in .22lr form.

I'm looking at the beater type rifle, not going to leave it out in the rain or use it as a paddle. but it's not getting treated like my CZ.

OK Bucknaked! I do like 10 22s. Don't get me in hot water with the Ruger crowd, the paddle reference was to tempting Iguess.

Shooting good, tried several brands getting the scope dialed in. Not too picky, but settled on CCI Stingers. Cloverleafing 'em @60yards, (Off a bench).
