With the drought it might be a year of passing up target deer up and trying to take out some lesser deer for us. We shall see. Mother nature sure isn't doing her part though.

I was out in Eldorado off 220 and another place off Toe Nail over the weekend. Watched it cloud up some, but nothing dropped over either place.

The past couple weeks I have ran into a couple few discussions about this years fawn crop. I filled feeders a couple weeks ago and have pulled gam cam cards once since then and caught a few pics of fawns.

Who all is catching pics of fawns on gam cam and seeing them out and about?
Is the fawn crop looking ok on our places??

Have them on camera and saw some a couple of weeks ago, as we drove through the place filling feeders. Our deer are looking relatively healthy body-wise. I guess they're living off us and the mesquite leaves/beans because that's about the only thing green on the place besides cedars. Even the cactus is yellowing and browning up.

I've been hunting a couple of miles southwest of Paint Rock (friend's FIL's place) for more than 15 years and I've gotten a few nice mature bucks, but my dad recently was able to buy a neighbor (he lives in Kingsland) of his' piece of land (~130 acres) east of Bethel near the Colorado river. I've seen a bunch of turkey and luckily quail in person and does on game cameras. Does anyone know what to expect in this area? I'm currently assuming it's similar to Paint Rock.

Was out last weekend and range conditions are still looking rough. Some deer still looked healthy, some semi-healthy and the rest looking quite drawled up.

As would be expected, feed stations are getting hammered. We are so blessed to have plenty of water stations and the wildlife does not have to travel far to get a drink.

Most Live Oaks had some very small acorn cups but not loaded and allot have already fallen to the ground.

Big rain for us tonight. Going on an hour and 15 minutes watching via the Covert and it’s been steady! Big puddles at my favorite blind… and rain at my other blind on the opposite side of the lease. … thank you Lord!

Random Question for your guys on this thread: I’m looking at purchasing a little land out in the San Angelo area (or surrounding counties), and want to find a place that has large numbers of turkeys on it. Is there any area/county that’s historically good for turkey numbers or is just hit or miss across the entire region based on roost areas/water?

My dad leases a place in Eden that is crazy loaded with turkeys. We have a few on ours outside of San Angelo but the numbers have never been really high

We hunted just north of Angelo between 277/67 and were loaded with Turkey. North, south and east of town have always seemed better than west in my opinion but most of the area immediately around Angelo is pretty good

Just putting this out there. I’m a farmer and rancher from moody Tx . I have a group of 12 total hunters that I’ve known my entire life. We found out last week that our current lease near lake OH Ivie will be sold after hunting season this year. So I’m looking for a new lease that would begin in 2023. We are a good group of manageminded hunters who have hunted together many years and feed year around. I’ve got plenty references if need be .I would like to find a place for 12 guys but wouldn’t pass on the right place for 8-10 guys I’m just looking for a good quality lease . I was out filling feeders and getting blinds ready last weekend. Not a blade of grass on the hole place, but the main water holes are holding water from the rains a couple of weeks ago.
