I shoot a lot of pigs in my hay meadow. If you want DRT shoot mid neck front of shoulder. Behind front shoulder they will normally run 40-80yards. Mid body about 150-200 yards.
From the ear hole, down at angle towards the shoulder about 3". I guess this is the neck. Dumped everyone I ever hit in that spot. Also, high shoulder if I don't have a lot of time. This is with .308, 165 gr. SST (Hornady) bullet. They die right there.
I used to shoot them right on the top of the shoulder, which looks like it's about half way from top to bottom of the chest. That's where the spine is. By the time you add the hair on the top of the shoulder/back, it will look like you are shooting them about half way top to bottom. That hits the spine, naturally they drop on the spot.
I have shot multiple in the head, but because they are often very jittery, usually are constantly moving very fast, as they are cleaning up corn. I have seen and made some bad shots, when shooting for the head. If they are calmer, not so jittery, then I do often try for head shots.
In the neck or right behind the ear. Depends what you're shooting too though. If you're shooting a bonded bullet that'll punch through muscle and bone you can put them down with a heart or lung shot. I always try to shoot them in the head or neck though.
