Good man. Nowadays if you aren’t making spec at/around 7 I get nervous. It’s just easier for batch plants to throw in an extra sack of cement as good insurance. Sounds like you had it covered.

Finally the rain and wind have subsided! Erectors started the building Thursday. They should be sheeting it today. Click image for larger version

Finally feel like stuff is coming together. Spent a week or so getting all the bottom plates cut, laid out, square and made some minor room adjustments and nailed down. Started standing the walls today. Got about half of them stood.

Saving enough money on the project that the wife and I are contemplating adding a wood burning stove or a wood burning insert.

I have an endless supply of oak on my place and decided in my DIY barndo I would be using it to help with heating it. We decided to go with a good wood burning stove over a conventional place for it' efficiency( and I didn't feel like building a full blown masonry fireplace. I have done 95% of the work myself but didn't feel right about the chimney/flue so I had it done. The way I am installing it requires insulated pipe with 2 adjustable elbows. It was right at $2000 parts and labor. There are several ways to install them but I built an alcove and will install the stove there when I get it. I think it will look ok, kinda a fireplace and kinda a stove. Looking at getting a Lopi Cape Cod model as I used their spec sheet to build the alcove.

Long few weeks but framing is complete except for bath tub and fireplace.

Here are pics of the living/dining/kitchen area with large “mount wall”

Looking good! All of these barndo build projects have me itching to build one myself.

                          Keep up the good work!
