All the damage looks like it is in a straight line, not fight damage. That happened in one motion. A buddy of mine shot a pig with his bow head on, just barely caught it with the broad head, it sliced down the length of the pig, in a manner very similar to that. A fence is a possibility. but looks like whatever did the damage was either pretty sharp or had a lot of energy. Like possibly having a large truck go over him after he slipped and fell in the road, but that would almost have to had happen before he grew his antlers, the wounds don't look that old.

Barbed wire fences, a rutting buck will just as soon go between wires as jump. Just another scratch to him.

I killed an antelope once that looked worse than that, the old rancher just laughed and said it was from going thru the barded wire when he chased them off the wheat.
