Not sure where the official kill board is, but I was looking at the cooler and butchering set up and noticed on the paper that as of 1:30 1 buck, 1 doe, and 1 hog had been taken.

I had 1 doe at 7 yards I never even noticed because I was looking through brush for some hogs I was hearing. I only noticed her because she eventually started blowing and took off running.

The kill log as of Sunday at about 3 only had 8 or so listed.

Not yet! Today is the deadline for people to pay, so I assume we will get a list early next week. I'll post on the Aransas NWR Facebook page as soon as I know.

                    RIFLE HUNT STANDBY PERMITS AVAILABLE

                    Rifle 1 (11/2-11/6) - 28
                    Rifle 2 (11/23-11-27) - 23
                    Rifle 3 (12/14-12/18) - 11

If you're interested in a standby permit, come to the check station by 9:00 am on the Friday before the hunt (scout day). Be prepared to scout and set up your stand, and bring $130 cash (exact change). Youth (17 and under) hunt free, but must have a permit. If we have more permits available than interested hunters, everyone gets one. If we have more hunters than permits, we will do a drawing at 9 a.m.

So around a 12% success rate? It is probably more than that if you factor in how many people left before it was over.

Wow, that's a pretty good strap. Must be a lot of dry areas. Appreciate the updates. Wish other NWRs would update like you guys

I try to check in from time to time to see if y'all have questions! And yes, it's much dryer here than last year, and the mosquito situation (for Aransas, anyway) isn't anything near what it usually is this time of year, so hunters may have stuck around a little longer!

Are mountain bikes allowed while hunting Aransas NWR? If so, are the roads dry enough to make it possible to ride on the main roads, dirt roads, paths, or fire breaks?

Is the ground too swampy for a non motorized game cart, and are game carts useful in Aransas NWR?

Dang, my apologies for killing this thread, haha! Can anyone chime in on how the road conditions are in the Aransas NWR? Any roads to avoid with a 1ton F350?

                                Thanks,

                                Chisos
