Anybody find a really good attractant for the Axis?
Running corn feeder with food/mineral
block near by.

I have tried the small alfalfa bale. I hung it and it just dried out until the cows found it.
I have not tried the cotton seed. How do you feed it?

It’s funny, I have friends near Llano that say the axis run their whitetails off the feeders. Here they are really skittish and hardly ever come to the feeder.

We just use the T-post and wire cage. As dry as it’s been they have been coming into feeders for us. If it’s not super dry like it is we tend to find them in semi open areas

Looking good, I sure do miss Menard,. Especially Ojeda’s Mexican chicken fried steak. and tacos and away home.

I was surprised also, especially how dry it is.
We must of had some rain during the prime growth.

No, I just set it on the ground and it's gone in a week or so.

I usually stop at D&D in Seguin to get it on my way.
I'm sure you can call a local feed store and see if they have it or will get it for you.

Brady feed and fertilizer has it.

Junction warehouse has it.

Higginbotham and Compton warehouse in Menard doesnt have it. Couldn't get ahold of Kothmann's feed to ask him.

Since last night, I have recorded 1.6" of rain at the house in Menard. I have heard reports of 6" in Schleicher County as the rains keep training the same paths. Looks like we could continue to get this steady but not heavy rain until about 4:00 PM. I estimate we will end up with about 2". Chances of rain over the next several days and much cooler temps. Hopefully, we have broken this drought.
