Snake ID? New one to me, Port Lavaca area.

This snake is new to me, I know a lot of snakes, I know what it is but wanted to see if the GS can ID it. Sorry but only pic I could get cause of my kids and dogs jumping in and scaring it off. Was not killed.

Non venomous, it’s more than likely a water snek. 100% positive it’s non venomous.

The shovel is to shovel dog poop, I used it to keep the snake around to try and get pics and show the kids. The snake was not harmed.

Crayfish Snake possibly. Although its head is kinda different shaped than what I thought a Crayfish Snakes is.

Not sure if this is qualified as a water snake but, not the typical water snake.

My first thought was a Texas lined snake. But, the dorsal line isn't very pronounced. There is often quite a bit of color variation in most snakes however.

Standby...asking on Snake Identification group on FB. They are usually fast and accurate.

They ID'd it as a Gulf Saltmarsh Snake ( non venomous of course ).

Pretty hard snake to find, I've always called them Saltwater Marsh Snakes. Usually the stripes are more pronounced.
