Any sign of rutting of any sort there? Scrapes?

Congratulations!!! You all are probably not that far from our farm. We are in Iowa 4 miles north of the Iowa/ Missouri state line.

Dapper Dan. Yes. It heating up here. There are at least 30-40 scrapes within a 300 yard radius of our house. I have moved 4 of my cameras to scrapes in the last few days. Almost time to start hunting. I don't want to booger up my spots before it really gets good.

Set up for the evening hunt, windy all day gust up to about 30 mph and warm. Hunting between two turnip patches this evening. Weather says wind will lay down around 5!

I agree. Rut is about to be full swing up there. What counties are you hunting in Iowa?

We live in Davis county. I hunt about 90% on our farm and on my neighbors farms. I have some public ground spots in Appanoose and Wappello counties that I also hunt.

My buddy smoke a huge doe last night picture below. I had two does come in yesterday evening kept looking back so I did not shoot. I was hoping my target buck was behind them, if he was he never showed his face. Good north wind this morning temp is 36 and I just heard two bucks fighting so this could get exciting!

Back at camp now, had a button buck, 2 does and a yearling come in this morning. The north wind started having a slight easterly kick to it which put the deer directly downwind. Since the wind was so high I did not even run the ozonics and they knew something was up. Regardless I have had the best sits of any hunt I have ever been on. Gone post up looks like the evening hunt is going to be prime time as far as weather. And I think I’m going to get back in the same stand I shot that doe from on the first hunt.

Hunting the Midwest is awesome !!

In about two weeks it's going to get crazy. It's just a little early although it's getting close. I am not getting any day light buck pics yet.

It is sleeting here in Davis county Iowa now.

                            Good luck !!
