My 105 VLD’s doing 3170 shoot pretty flat to 1000. I don’t claim to be a good shot and won’t ever set any benchrest records but a golfball isnt safe if I can see it.

Ruger American Predator 6.5 Creedmoor in a Boyd's Stock and Nikon Buckmaster 4.5 to 14 X 40.
Picture has two different bullet loads. The 5 groups on top are 123 gr. Hornady SST. Largest group is .86" and the smallest is .36" at 100 yards and 3 shot groups.
The three lower groups are same gun 143 gr. Hornady ELDx. Just started developing a load with this.

Well, I don't have pics, it's been too long, but my Marlin XS7 .243 is sub-moa. When I first got it, it shot about 1.25-1.5 moa. Marlin made it with a little "pedestal" in the barrel groove that pressed against the barrel and supposedly made it more accurate. Whoever came up with that stupid idea, I don't know. I ground it off and cleaned out the groove so the barrel was completely free floating. Huge difference!

After that, it consistently grouped inside of a nickle, sometimes a dime, using my standard ammo of Federal GameKing 85 gr. BTHP, a fantastic round that comes screaming out of the muzzle at 3200+ fps. Sadly, they no longer make it, although I did manage to stash away 5 boxes, which I guard like rare diamonds.

My feeder was about 90-100 yards from the blind, so this enabled me to do high neck shots, about an inch below the skull. The 85 gr. HPBT, going at least 3150 fps, blew a 3-4 inch exit hole, and those deer were dead before they even started falling.

One note, though. When doing multiple groups with regular hunting rifles, the barrels can really overheat after several rounds and start shooting wide. Had to shoot slow and allow plenty of cool-down time between groups when I was sighting in.

270 Winchester, 7mm Remington Magnum or . 300 Winchester Magnum), needs a rifle that averages 2 MOA groups. Those 2" groups at 100 yards will open to 6" at 300 yards. Very few hunters can take advantage of more accuracy than that in the field, so 2 MOA represents the practical limit of accuracy for most hunters.

Yea, 6” @ 300 ain’t gonna work for me. I won’t own a rifle that is not at least MOA and dang sure won’t hunt with one.

Starting load development on a budget bench gun in 6 dasher.

Savage target action with a 1:7.5 bart, bell and Carlson, PST Gen II 5-25 and TB Ultra 7. All bought used except for the barrel.

It averaged 1.7 inches for 6 different depth settings at 300 yards, -030 and 060 show potential and will get some charge weight testing.

The other group is 4 shots at 100 cleaning each round of the new barrel.

I have been shooting my whole life and even in the military i never had a scope that had a parallax dial before now and i have been so frustrated that i went from shooting sub to over an inch... it even had me questioning my hand loads. Bone stock Tikka 24” CTR Manbun with a VX-5. Factory 140gr ELD-M. My son missed a hog and said the gun must be off. Put it on the bench at camp and shot 4 rounds. Didn’t measure it but I think I convinced him it was the Indian...not the bow. I might sell this rifle but it will be expensive. Less than 40 rounds down the tube...

First groups are from my last build 26”1:10 Mcgowen 243AI these were fireform loads first group was just over 1/2moa at 100yards second was about 3/4”-1” at 200 yards.

Last groups were from my CZ 17 hornet pushing a 24gr Hornady HP with 11.6gr CFE blk shoots 1/4” groups pretty easy at 100yards. Such a pleasure to shoot with the mask on the end.

Ruger American Predator 308. Sig suppressor. Polished the factory trigger and sear. Nikon prostaff 3-9x50. Shooting 150gr Sierra SBT gameking handloads. 3 at 100. Didn’t measure it, but maybe 3/4”? A smidge under?

Rifle is a Sako 75 Synthetic Stainless, Sako optilock rings and 3-9x50 zeiss conquest 1”. Threaded the barrel to run my Omega 36M direct thread and put the 30 cal faceplate on it.

All Tikkas, a CTR in .308, a Roughtek in 7mm Rem. Mag and a T3 with a B&C Medalist with bottom metal from High Desert Rifle Works. Hornady SST, 165 gr, 162 gr. ELDX and 143 gr ELDX, developed and packaged by Hornady. Two Leupold VX5HD's and a Burris Signature HD. Targets were 80, to 442 yards.
