That cat had just started to launch when he first shot.
I would not have waited for it to get that close.

I would have plugged that kitty in the chest a solid minute or two earlier. Could definitely see filming as evidence for the game warden though... I don't like predators acting too big for their britches.

How do you determine it was female?

If I was gun hunting I would have blasted that cat with a rifle and I dang sure would not have been retreating and chancing falling down

It’s hard to tell from the video but typically females aren’t as squarely built and are more aggressive often times. Male lions are usually pretty laid back and have a blocky looking head
