When I was a broke college student I would combine a can of tuna with a batch of Kraft Mac N’ Cheese. Pretty dang good - still make it occasionally.

Yep!! I also added peppers (jalapenos or serranos) and extra cheese like parmesan.

Liquid gold is the standard. My wife would only eat the blue box space dust. Great for kids but when I made her try Liquid Gold she immediately converted lol.

When money was tight the real stuff (Kraft) was a treat. The generic stuff was $1 a box or less. That store brand stuff could be pretty nasty.

Mixing in left over taco meat to make taco mac was always a favorite and could stretch things out into another couple meals.

In college we killed or caught all of our protein... a box of mac n cheese and a pack of ground deer fine dining in my book!

we add in ground meat and cut bell pepper and little bbq sauce... meal in itself... have added cubed up sausage too...

Made some for my grandson, added saracha, chorizo and nacho peppers diced up to mine. So much better, now when you get the real cheese and Mac and add those, it’s actually a doable meal once in awhile.
