I don't know what that is. Lol. I'm at my step daughter's house in Corpus. They have some sort of ala cart channel package with no ESPN networks. I'm going crazy trying to find something to watch. Got Winter X on ABC for a few hours yesterday.

I was hoping Texas would get the visit, but looks like LSU put the press on. A nice pickup.

I am looking forward to an aggressive 4-3 defense. I also think his defense will be better than Arandaís. It was always solid before and finished higher than any of Arandaís did. Heard some good things from some of the LSU guys that played for him in the past. Definitely not the silent type.

I donít know a thing about Bo other than what I saw at Nebraska. It was clear he was not cut out to be a head coach, and didnít seem to have a very good grasp on the game that was on the field on a given day.....and that he doesnít know how to wear a ball cap.

Plenty of good coordinators out there who arenít fit for bein the man, though.

Heíll be obnoxious, you can bet on that.

He had a pretty good record at Nebraska. They have gotten far worse since his firing. No his pr skills left a lot to be desired.

Pelini was actually a pretty good head coach at Nebraska. He never had fewer then 9 wins in a season. Not sure his personality was right for a major program head coach but his results were pretty solid.

Pelini bumped heads with the AD at Nebraska and was not the politically correct type. His record at Nebraska was not bad at all. Hopefully being a DC will cut into his time on a podium. That is the Shrimp Boat Captain’s job.

As the spread gets more popular in the SEC, it will be interesting to see how Pelini adjusts. Texas fans should watch closely as Ash and Pelini are from the same coaching tree and run quite similar systems.

The 4-3 they run isn't a great spread stopping scheme without elite defensive talent all over the place.

Yup thankfully LSU is loaded on the back end, and some awesome DL talent coming in

No one really runs a 4-3 anymore, or a 3-4. It's all hybridized versions, and all the nickel and dime required these days.

Yup so many packages within a package now days depending on down, distance, etc

This is 100% true. Talking up the 4-3 vs. the 3-4 is generally irrelevant. What Ash and Pelini have to show is a willingness to adapt to playing a bunch of high level spread offenses that are on both of their schedules in conference and during the playoffs if they should be so lucky. Both teams have the players to play either scheme, and will likely show both 3 and 4 man fronts.

The general base defense of all the Hayden Fry school of coaches, the 4-3 under, does not perform well against the spread, but I doubt that either will be in a base seven man front against spread teams. The question will be what do their nickel and dime packages look like?

Neither has really proven themselves against a full schedule of modern spread teams, but there aren't really any DC's in college football that have.

Pelini has a true stud stopper in Stingley, that will make all of his defensive decisions easier. Texas doesn't have that, but they have more experience in the back end where there won't be a starter that is an underclassmen.

If teams go no hudl, packages are irrelevant as substituting for down and distance is kept at a minimum. They have to be able to run nickel or dime as their base and stop the run and pass from both. That **** is hard.
