Is there a way to get fire insurance only on a cabin/house? This is an old cabin that was built in 3-4 phases over many years. It does not have a standard roof(metal or shingle). It is 100% in the flood plain but I do not want flood insurance.
Both insurance guys I use couldn't insure it at all. And they tried going through Foremost and they wouldn't insure it because of the roof.
Any ideas?
BTW - The downstairs area is really nice but built to get flooded. So if/when it floods I plan to eat that cost myself and repair/rebuild. If water gets upstairs then that would be an all time record flood and I'd just deal with it but I doubt that happens.
My only real worry is it burning down since I'm not there much at all. And when people use the place they use the fire pit. Neighbors burn brush sometime etc.
