Old 11 pt. turn into a doe?

Well kinda!!!!! Sorry been taking care of deer and such.
Quick story It was super foggy this morning and could barely see the pen where my son was sitting. I guess around 730 I could make out big 11 like ten yards away from hand corn along with 3 other bucks. Text him that he his almost to him. He says ok I see him and I’m about to shoot. I glue my binoculars to deer, and hear the thump of arrow hitting him as everything scattered. Well I was glued to him as he ran off towards me and that where I started looking for blood. My son said why you going that way that’s not the way he ran. Go other direction and he didn’t go 30 yards, but wrong deer!!!! He still doesn’t know what happened and is upset. Still shot a hell of a deer. Typical 9 with kicker and split brows(already broke one off) fast score 141 6 year old.
