    Truck Extended Warranty Question

Son graduated from Law School and is making his first “Big Boy” purchase.

He is buying a 2018 Silverado with 20,000 miles on it.

Dealer wants $2000 for a $100 deductible warranty that will cover the vehicle for 72 months or up to 100,000 miles (80,000 + 20,000 on the vehicle now)

Have never bought an extended warranty...

Is that a reasonable price or is there a way to buy one outside of the dealer offered one...?

And anybody have any recommendations on a preferred company?

    Thanks in advance...

Is that an extended factory warranty or an aftermarket warranty?

      If that’s a factory warranty, I think it’s a good price.

Check out James Black Cadillac. They offer some of the best online factory warranty pricing. I bought several for my trucks in the past at 50% or less what the selling dealership was asking.

I believe he told my son it’s an aftermarket warranty.

I had a Ford, 35000 miles, I used a Ford dealer online and bought an factory extended warranty.150,000 mile for 1350 I believe.

I would expect you can do the same with Chevrolet.

I buy my extended warranties through my credit union. They’re better warranties and usually a good but cheaper

Put $2000 in a savings account set aside for repairs instead of buying the warranty

Be sure to read the fine print. We got a dealer “forever” warranty on my wife’s last car. The catch was that any and all maintenance either had to be done at that dealership, or we had to call ahead for preauthorization to have maintenance done elsewhere. You can imagine how often they answered the phone......

                    Got it taken care of.

My ‘17 Titan XD (Cummins) had right 50,000ish on it when I bought it so that gave me 50,000ish factory bumper to bumper left.
Since it was a “certified preowned” it qualified for Nissans Service Plus extended warranty
The Nissan extended warranty costs me $4400 but it gave me parts and labor bumper to bumper to 150,000ish With a $50 deductible... so I’d say yeah, yours is a good deal

                        NO..... aftermarket warranty...…………….
A lot of those businesses, go out of business...……………
IDK if that a good price or not...…………
But, if he ever has to use it..... At least the Chevy might still be in business...…..
