    223 Rem seems to be more prevalent in the lower end rifles, but I’ll agree with your assessment overall. I see considerably more 556 and Wylde barrels in the AR platform as a whole.

                  If you buy a new barrel get a Wylde, it should perform better generally speaking( unless you shoot thousands of rounds or full auto).
