Default Sights/optic for Winchester 94AE

I have resisted scoping my 30-30 for over a decade now, but I'm realizing I just don't use the rifle much because I hate the factory sights. It has a big round front bead that looks about 5' across on a 100 yard target.

I looked into a side scope mount so I could still use my irons, but most I found online won't fit the newer 94AE models.

Any suggestions for a peep and front post setup, or even a red dot/magnifier? Or a side mount that would fit?

Thanks y'all.

There are top mount scope mounts for the AE, that is why the AE came about. Also Williams makes receiver sights that mount directly into the holes for the rear scope mount in your rifle, then simply change the front sight to what you like. So you got some options :-)

I’ve used Williams aperture sites on a couple 94’s without having to swap out the front sight.

Ive started with I believe Leupold bases and rings, killed my first buck with mine. A few years later I went to a Williams peep and have loved it. I have it sighted in at 100 yards, I use a bullseye about the size of a snuff can, I use a 6 oclock hold. At 150 I cover the target.

Personally I say go peep.

I would go with a peep sight. I like the Skinner,

I resist scopes on W94's also, even with poor sight visuals.
Right now I have a Williams peep, but I had to change front sight also.
I did have it rebored to 38-55 and it came back shooting way lo.
I have been considering a micro red dot as of late, but so far the peep works well enough.
