Another wounded buck that survived picture

I am helping my friend shoot cull bucks off his ranch to control his numbers and try to keep his quality up. On Nov 7, I shot a small basket 8 with my trusty .270 Remington 700 that has served me well for over 40 years. Oh crap, I forgot this is a bowhunting site! He immediately dropped, then got up and ran off ! He ran behind brush, and I could not see where he went. No blood . This ranch has some of the thickest, thorniest brush you can ever imagine so I figured we would see buzzards in a few days.

Two weeks later, he shows back up, and a friend snapped this picture. I wish he would have shot him! He appears to be doing fine, but I am sure the would will get infected. That is the exit hole!

For those who think I never shoot anything, I “harvested” this 10 point opening weekend. Nothing really special, but a nice buck and what he is wanting shot this year.

Why do some pictures post correctly and some get rotated when you post them the exact same way...dang it???

I misspoke and meant...relative to the other bucks he has on the place. Maybe someday, he will turn us loose to harvest his real trophies.

No, I was aiming right behing his front leg, about 3 inches up.

I'm just yanking your chain! Yeah, I was aiming for the junction of his spine as it enters his body. There is so much THICK, THORNY brush that we do not want to have to pull them out of there, so a neck/spine shot (usually) drops them on the spot. I was about 2" high on this shot.
