I'm in for 2023. I forgot I flagged this topic and it was going to my work email. I don't work much anymore so I didn't check it. I may, MAY, try to get on the Nov 22 trip if there is room. But I've committed to some other trips that I'll have to juggle around.

Just tell me how much the deposit will be and when on the 2023 trip.

Trip is actually full. My kid is going and several that have been on every trip. Mike and Chuck

I know that leaves one spot but I wasn’t able to book entire trip. There was one guy signed up and I took all open spots.

At one time these trips were easy to book. Now they fill up quick and they are all gone if you are not Johnny on the spot- Also best if you call and ask when they are booking future trips. Sometimes you can get skipped over because it’s multiple people booking these trips.

Any of you Veterans of this trip know how high the railing is around the boat, just curious if it is tough for the vertically challenged to fish?

As long as hes not driving the boat! Skloss can get lost with land in sight on all 4 sides!!!

Is there a way to heat food up on the boat or just bring cold food? With oyster season opening 2 days before we board Im not holding out much hope for being able to find a gallon of fresh shucked anywhere. Boo.

Hopefully one of the regulars will chime in but I'm pretty sure we can heat up food.

Halco 130 - Color purple/black or one of the light blue colors
Freenzy flyer
Ahi Assault in Glo color

That would be 90% of lures

Fish are also caught on chunks of blackfin (chunking) and also catching live flying fish and floating them out. I have a bunch of flyers that got bent up and I’ll go see if I can straighten them out with heat gun

Contact Rob (At the wall) for tackle info. He generally very helpful.
If anyone is going on this trip from the DFW area you’re welcome to borrow my tackle. I’ve got an AVET MXL6/4-MC Raptor reel and a Calstar rail fighter rod. I also have some jugs and fish. Since I can’t make the trip I wouldn’t mind my equipment getting used for it.

If you guys are asking for simple suggestions. No need for wind on leaders just put a top shot on. Boat will have spools of mono and I usually carry a spool. Braid I would go 65# or better. I can’t break 65# myself and if it gets in the boat it doesn’t matter it’s gonna cut off. Rods/reels. If you have something you can cast that has a drag system around 20# or more. Rods need to have some backbone for lift.

I have a quality spin reel I’m bringing without a rod if anyone has an xtra rod. It’s a Penn Torque 7 so it has plenty of line and drag. You could easily complicate things or just keep it simple.
