Black Bear in N. Texas!

This bear was spotted about 6 miles north of where I live. Anybody else heard of black bears in Texas?

There was one around the Bells/Whiteright area a couple years ago. There was a news article about it.

They are in Texas for sure. The Davis mountains. Deep East Texas. They are moving south in SE Oklahoma.

There was one on our place east of Bogata in Red River County last year. Tore up some feeders. Young bear about 150lbs. Don’t have the TC pics on this phone.

I live about 12 miles away in Oklahoma and I will be able to legally hunt bear where I live this year. With that said I have never seen any on our place but I know they have been seen in Bryan county down to Bells and over into Paris area. There will be more and more in a few years as the males expand their territory out.

Saw one in my back yard in Hardin County. It was 35 years ago, but it was a black bear.
