Good looking deer. I'll give it another try this year. I've used it before without a working TC and it was all gone so something ate it. Do your bucks like it better than rice bran?

        I love this setup

How much water does it gather?
Trough looks tall/deep in that photo unless it is full.
        Thanks.

4x4's are in ground a little. That trough has been in that spot since probably 2008 and hogs haven't bothered it yet.

one end it about 2 inches higher than the other so the rain runs down length wise.

it's in a pen to keep hogs and cows out. however, i have had 2 hogs standing in it at once.

i have it on skids, they are just covered because it sank in the mud some.

I get about 50 gallons per inch of rain. I have 2 totes on a trailer with a 2" pump that i use to fill it when its dry.

This feeder has a mix of about 70% sweet feed and 30% protein. This is between two soy beans fields.

                        Really interesting. How about raccoons?

They love sweet feed. You can probably get a better deal at a local feed store as opposed to TS and even if you don't it is nice to support the local guy.

Add capacity to your trough feeder by using 2 pieces of plywood in a V shape. Gap at the V bottom about 2" wide, & 2" off the trough. May have to adjust the gap size, but build it like a creep feeder for calves.

Good idea but that would never work on our place. I can't even feed protein anymore. We have 40" panels, but as soon as the cattle smell protein in the feeder, they jump it like nothing (usually damaging the panels in the process) to get to it. Tried everything, but only option was to stop feeding. They would have that sweet feed emptied in a day lol.
