Never seen one with the pattern so visible before. Coworker took the pictures as it crawled off her hood, usually they are always almost jet black.

Never seen a jet black one but they look black from a distance

Killed an egg eating one night before last in the chicken house

Out in the woods or pasture I would leave them be

That snake doesn't fit the common markings for any snake native to Texas. But, there can be quite a bit of variety in color in patterns for some species. This on, if not an escapee from someone's aquarium is very unique. Curious on the size? How tall is that drift fence. If 3-4 feet as it appears, that is a big snake. I'm thinking one of the python varieties.

That’s silt fence. Less than 24” out of the ground.

Yep just a big chicken snake. I've seen quite a few that size and markings just like that.

The biggest one I ever laid eyes on in person was a tad over 7’. One of those cornfield rat snakes in Grandview.

Their markings right after shedding are very defined. Had to kill a few in our chicken coup and also a 7fter up in the console of my tractor.
