Just a heads up, they got hit pretty hard with the storm. I was there last weekend lot of the Oak trees froze, broke limbs and took out power lines, especially NW of town by Harper and Mason.

      This was posted yesterday.

NO power for 3 to 4 MORE WEEKS for portions of Texas Hill Country. While North Texas suffered extremely cold temperatures and snow, the Texas Hill Country suffered devastating ice and snow storms. This photo, taken by Luke Robert Miller, reflects a small sample of how much ice packed on to roofs, fences, power lines, power poles and trees. The weight of the ice snapped power poles about a third of their height. The lines collapsed under the unprecedented load and trees were left with no branches - just trunks stripped of all limbs, many of which fell on power lines.
Yesterday, we were informed by Central Texas Electric Cooperative that the damage to infrastructure was so severe that our portion of the Hill Country (Harper and surrounding areas) would not receive electrical service for 3 to 4 MORE weeks. According to CTEC, there is a huge lack of supplies needed to get power back to rural communities - poles and line, etc. The gas stations in Harper are closed - no electricity to pump fuel. The feed store and school are dark. Aqua Texas wells can’t provide water to their customers. Stock animals and wildlife that rely on water wells to fill troughs have no water. For those fortunate enough to have a generator, ‘electrical’ costs (diesel) will cost between $25 and $80 DAILY!! That’s $750 to $2400 for 30 days. These people will be without electricity for a total of 5 to 6 weeks. Where is their help?
While hearings are happening today in Austin to examine the failures of ERCOT, entire communities in the Hill Country won’t be able to make a phone call, cook food, take a hot shower or water their stock. Online school? Not without power!!

that area got hammered. My friends parents place would of faired better with a tornado. Every tree top is on the ground on their place. It will take years to clean up.

Los Cazadores has a store in Fredericksburg and Stonewall.
                Nimitz Museum is great.

I'd walk up and down the street and let your wife window shop and you get a beer and walk along with her.

Make sure you go to Rustlin Rob's and bring a pocket full of cash because that place is amazing. Dips, rubs, salsa's ect and you get to try everything they have. I bet there is over 500 tastings in that place

                          Definite DON’T

                          Fredericksburg Brewing Company

Was there in December. Literally sampled every beer they had to try to find something drinkable. Finally would up ordering.... iced tea. It was that bad.

Buddy that lives there recommended Alstadt Brewing but they were closed that day.

Garrison Bros is a great tour, but you can buy their Bourbon cheaper from most liquor stores.

Also Rustlin Robs is a great place for dips and such items. You can almost eat a meal full sampling items there! Not open on Sundays!

For a place ot stay, we love the 2 cabins at Alamo Springs. Walking distance to the Cafe and Bat Cafe, but a drive back into town that is not even close to being a straight road. Lots of curves and wildlife!

Hilltop cafe on 87 west of town has really good food and live music some nights. We ate there last time we went due to all the other restaurants that we wanted to go to needing reservations and were booked.
