Default Sharkathon!!!

Who's going? Fishing?

I'm entered up but unsure if I'll be going now.

We had a trip (fishing and relaxing) planned for PINS this weekend. Moving to Mustang Island SP. Should be a little quieter over there.

I'm not fishing it but we'll be there camping. I've never been so I guess we'll get to watch a bit.

My concern is gonna be will there be any beach to even drive on with that 30-35mph wind water will probably be to the dunes

Looks like yall will have some good "tournament weather!"

I fished it about 5 or 6 years ago and it was ROUGH. Couldn't yak out past the third bar. First morning we had a guy drive into our camp and stop to ask us to tie down his kayak because it was coming off the roof of his suv. He needed help because of he had taken a shark circle hook in his neck. Apparently he was yaking out and flipped and caught the hook. He was on his way to the hospital to get it taken out.

Be safe and good luck everyone!

That front moving in should definitely make it a bit sporty on the beach!

Good luck whoever is fishing it. There is almost beach to speak of and with a hard front this weekend there will not be much room for that amount of people.

With the incoming weather, I wonder if they will cancel and change to the backup date

In my experience there they will not reschedule unless they close the park

Me and Gatorgar will be out there again this year. Hoping the surf doesn't get too bad. If nothing else, at least there will be good door prizes :-)

Tides are showing a range of around eight inches from high/low, surf is showing 2'
But those numbers never seem right

What does that mean for a land lover that doesn't know tides well? As it pertains to beach camping.

We are trying to decide if we are heading that way tomorrow or not.

Just called Mustang Island SP. They are shutting down the beach to camping this weekend.

I'm hoping it's not that bad. But the winds are suppose to be kicking and that can change things up fast

We were advised against camping a couple days ago. We're headed to Big bend now.

Didn't get many pictures.
Surf wasn't too bad to start with...
But once that front hit hard and fast, it got real dirty and chopy.
We called it early. But had a good time.
Boy just can't hang with Dad, even after sleeping almost all night, and I didn't

We ended up at Matagorda Beach. That wind Friday night was no joke.

I’m in Port A and the surf got flat during the day yesterday afternoon when the wind died. It was still flat this morning at the Port A jetties. Turned out to be a decent weekend, surf wise.

Never could figure out why they held this thing in October. Some of our higher bull tides happen in October. Good luck. Stay safe.

I've heard that the park will not give them a permit for Sept. I don't know if that's the case or not.

I've said it many times already, I'd rather lose the tourney than my truck.
I saw 4 rigs getting towed out because they flooded their engines or other water related problems and heard of about 10 that were stuck to the frame

Nope. Not worth it to risk that much but if you do win the shark pot, you go obey to replace or fix your truck haha
